From last blog"
I don't think he's great, but I do think in limited situations he's still OK. You hope that with good drafting and devlopment, Staal can ride out the remainder of his contract as a 5 or 6. The problem is, the contract and we've been playing him like a 1 or 2 for long stretches of the season. - 2sticks1puck

This doesn't account for how slow he looks and how soft he plays. Very bad. |

How does this negate what I said? I never said I thought Staal was outstanding, just that he hasn't been quite as bad as people think he is and that he's been used in way too high a role. BTW, according to your advanced stats, he was mostly a negative player even when he was considered "good". His corsi isn't that much different than 7 seasons ago.
He for sure as lost a step, but again I think if he was on the third pair he would be OK. It's a moot point, but I'd almost think if he didn't have a NMC, teams might actually want to trade for him than Shattenkirk. |

Move Kreider at the draft for a decent haul. - tomburton99
I actually agree with this. Get an extra first and prospect, use the other picks to trade up. |

I still prefer signing Kreider to a long term extension and making him captain
I have absolutely no concern about what he's done or not done post deadline |

Rangers with Virta, they seem to make solid use of the 7th round pick lately
which is good because they have 4 of them the next 2 years |

Still can't believe they got a 7th for Cody Mcleod. |

I'm with you. These kids needs leadership, and Kreider seems to have it in spades. |

Trade Kreider. - Fenrir
I'll trade anyone for the right price, but if they were going to trade him, they would have gotten better deal at deadline |

Shhhh, you'll destroy the narrative that the team doesn't draft well. |

I'm not sure about that. There might be a team that feels they were close this year and might have gotten over the hump had they had someone like him. The loser of the Toronto Boston series is going to feel pretty awful. I could see either one of those teams being desperate and trading the farm. Especially the Leafs, their fans have been on suicide watch for decades now waiting for a cup. |

I'll go one step further, I think the Rangers would get a better deal at next year's deadline than they will at the draft for Kreider if a trade is ultimately the path they choose
if Carolina had traded Skinner at the deadline instead of last August, I think they would have done LOTS better
I think the draft is probably the worst time to deal a guy with one year left on deal |

If we end up 5th/6th maybe that plus Kreider and Winn 1st gets us to 2? |

why would the team who picks 2nd, lets say for example it's the Kings, want Kreider? |

If we can somehow get them to name TPC as their next GM, then we might have a shot. |

Zucc's gone, so blow the rest up.
See my next post? A lot has been said about Kreider speaking Russian helping the next Communist Wave to assimilate. Give him the C (and the other CCP as well). |

I'm not saying they would do it, but to me the Kings still seem delusional about who they are. I think the Hawks kinda realize who they are and have slowly begun rebuilding somewhat, I think the Kings think they are a turnaround season from Quick away from competing. They had zero reason to sign Kovy if you think objectively. It's almost like they are the late 90s Rangers in modern form. |

We should introduce a red alternate jersey as well. Wear it a ton of times. |
